Mercure Sydney earns 2013 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence

Honoured as a Top Performing Hotel as Reviewed by Travellers on the World’s Largest Travel Site

4, June, 2013 – Mercure Sydney has announced that it has received a TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence award. The accolade, which honours hospitality excellence, is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveller reviews on TripAdvisor, and is extended to qualifying businesses worldwide. Only the top-performing 10 per cent of businesses listed on TripAdvisor receive this prestigious award.

To qualify for a Certificate of Excellence, businesses must maintain an overall rating of four or higher, out of a possible five, as reviewed by travellers on TripAdvisor, and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months. Additional criteria include the volume of reviews received within the last 12 months.

It’s Round 14 in the NRL and in this full round of 8 games here is a chance for maximum points in your respective tipping competitions.

On Friday Night the St.George-Illawarra Dragons should get a win over the travelling North QLD Cowboys at WIN stadium Wollongong and in the other Friday night game Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles will get the win over a resurgent Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at Brookvale Oval.

On Saturday the Canberra Raiders with the Home ground advantage will just edge out the Penrith Panthers at Canberra Stadium and in the 2^nd Saturday game ill tip the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks to beat the Parramatta Eels only because it’s being played at Sharks Stadium.

On Sunday The Melbourne Storm shouldn’t have any trouble with the Newcastle Knights in Melbourne; The Sydney Roosters will get the points over the NZ Warriors at Alliance stadium, Sydney; and the third game on Sunday see’s The South Sydney Rabbitohs to get the money over the Gold Coast Titans up at Cairns Stadium, Cairns.

The Final game of the round on Monday Night will see the Brisbane Broncos beating the Wests Tigers up at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane.

It’s Round 13 in the NRL and if you had of stuck with me last round you would have got 100% plus my State of origin pick with the margin!

On Friday The Sydney Roosters should have a comfortable win over the Parramatta Eels away from Home at Parramatta.

On Saturday the St.George-Illawarra Dragons I’m tipping to make it 2 wins this year over the Newcastle Knights at Hunter Stadium Newcastle and In the other game on Saturday the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs should make it two in a row against a struggling North QLD Cowboys up there in Townsville.

On Sunday I’m tipping the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles to make the trip over to New Zealand and come back with a win over the Warriors In Auckland, in the 2nd game on Sunday it’s the battle of the west where The Penrith Panthers on their recent form should get the 2 points over the Wests Tigers there in Penrith and the 3^rd game on Sunday the Melbourne Storm will have a win over the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks down at AAMI Park in Melbourne.

The Final game of the round on Monday Night I’m tipping the Canberra Raiders to get the win over the Brisbane Broncos on cold night there in the nation’s capital.

State Of Origin Tipping - Game 1

It’s Game 1 in the State of Origin the teams are now finalised and it’s down to business. So at ANZ Stadium on Wednesday I’m tipping the New South Wales Blues to win game one in front of 80,000 fans.

It’s going to be close but I’m thinking they will do it by 8 points if you are looking for a margin on the game.

It’s Round 12 in the NRL and after a very difficult last round of tips let’s hope things are better for the shortened bye round this week!

On Friday Night the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs should beat an underachieving St.George-Illawarra Dragons at ANZ Stadium.

On Saturday the South Sydney Rabbitohs should bounce back and win against the Newcastle Knights at ANZ stadium in a tight one.

On Sunday I’m tipping the Gold Coast Titans to win over the struggling North QLD Cowboys at Skilled Park on the Gold Coast.

The Final game of the round on Monday Night will be at Suncorp Stadium Brisbane where the Warriors should beat an origin depleted Brisbane Broncos.

On Friday Night its back to Leichhardt Oval where the North QLD Cowboys should have a win over the Wests Tigers away from home and just 10mins away over at ANZ Stadium The Brisbane Broncos should make it 2 from 2 for the Queensland Sides when they Play the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs .
On Saturday The St.George-Illawarrarra Dragons will get a win at WIN Jubilee Stadium over the inform Penrith Panthers; The Sydney Roosters I’m tipping to get home against the Melbourne Storm in what is anticipated to be an absolute cracker at Allianz Stadium Sydney and in the third super Saturday game we go to Brookvale Oval Where Manly-Warringah Sea-Eagles will be too tough against a hot and cold Canberra Raiders.
On Sunday the NZ Warriors are unbackable against the Newcastle Knights and in the other game we go to Mudgee stadium out in the country where the Gold Coast Titans should out muscle the Parramatta Eels.
The Final game of the round on Monday Night will be at Sharks Stadium where the Red Hot South Sydney Rabbitohs will be for too good against the at home Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks.

Its Round 10 in the NRL and last round was a tippers nightmare with some major upsets occurring and some major controversy as well. So here are this week’s tips.

On Friday Night the Brisbane Broncos will just edge out the Gold Coast Titans in the Queensland Derby at Suncorp Stadium and in the other Game the Top of the Ladder South Sydney Rabbitohs will be far too good for the Struggling Wests Tigers at ANZ Stadium.

On Saturday The St.George-Illawarrarra Dragons will beat the Parramatta Eels at Win Stadium Wollongong in a close one; The Penrith Panthers to get home against The Warriors at Penrith and in the 3rd game The Sydney Roosters will be too good for the North QLD Cowboys in Townsville.
On Sunday The Canberra Raiders will have a win in a close one against the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks down in the Shire and I think The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs will far too good for the Newcastle Knights up there at Hunter Stadium.

The Final game of the round will be down in Melbourne where the Melbourne storm will take the home crowd advantage over the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles.

Carpet Cleaning & Stain Removing Tips

Carpet stain is a common problem in hotel. Stains from food, chocolates, Red wine, tea/coffee, chewing gums are found frequently in hotel housekeeping. There are a range of techniques used to deal with this daily problem.

At Mercure Sydney, we use various chemicals and strategies to deal with different types of stains. For food and chocolate stain, we use a mixture of 1 cup clear ammonia in 2 litres of warm water and wipe the stain with sponge gently. By pouring a bit of beer right on top of coffee or tea stain can literally lift stain out of the carpet.

Stain from Red wine is hard to deal with, but there’s hope. First, while the red wine is still wet, pour some white wine on it to dilute the color. Then clean the spot with a sponge and cold water. Sprinkle the area with salt and wait about 10 minutes the vacuum up the whole mess. Chewing gum on the carpet can be taken off by leaving cubes of ice on top of it for 10-15 minutes. Also, wet carpet odour, vomiting odour can be removed by spreading borax powder and vacuuming with vacuum filled with camphor balls at the base of the vacuum bags.

It’s Round 9 in the NRL and as the teams sort themselves out for position on the competition ladder there are some really close games this week that could easily go either way. So these are the teams I’m thinking may have the edge over the other in this rounds Picks.
On Friday night I think the South Sydney Rabbitohs will beat the North QLD Cowboys at ANZ Stadium on Friday night and the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks will just edge out the Wests Tigers at Alliance Stadium in the other game on Friday Night.
On Saturday The NZ Warriors will just have the upper hand against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in Auckland and in the other Saturday game the Brisbane Broncos should win against the Parramatta Eels at Parramatta Stadium.
On Sunday the Canberra Raiders to win over the Newcastle Knights at Canberra Stadium, The St.George-Illawarra Dragons will upset the Gold Coast Titans up on The Gold Coast and The Melbourne Storm will be far too good for the Penrith Panthers at Centrebet Stadium on the foot of the mountains.
The Final Game for the round will be at the “Fortress” Brookvale Oval” on Monday night when The Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles take on the Sydney Roosters. I’m tipping the Roosters for what some might say an upset.

Accor hotels give children 'Room for Hope'

Stewart House and Royal Far West supported by Room for Hope

Room for Hope, a charity program set up by Greg Brady, General Manager of the Mercure Sydney and Dr Jerry Schwartz, the owner of a number of Accor hotels, has raised close to $50,000 for children’s charities in the last three years. They recently presented a cheque for $10,000 to Stewart House and $5000 to Royal Far West, two programs that assist children in need.

The Room for Hope program involves participating Accor hotels inviting their guests to donate one dollar onto their room rate, with 100% of funds raised going directly to the charities.

“As a hotel, we believe in providing exceptional service to all our guests to giving back to the communities in which we operate. By being part of the Room for Hope program, it allows us to contribute to our regional communities in NSW and the ACT through the generosity of our guests and staff,” said Greg Brady.

Each year Stewart House and Royal Far West, supported by Room for Hope, make a big difference to the lives of children in need. Based in Manly and Curl Curl in NSW, they provide children with accommodation and education, while also offering free optometric, dental and medical treatment. The important work conducted by Stewart House and Royal Far West assists at-risk children to develop healthier lifestyles, promotes self esteem and empowers them to achieve their goals.

Participating hotels include ibis World Square, Mercure Canberra, Mercure Sydney, MGallery Fairmont Resort Blue Mountains, Novotel Newcastle, The Sebel Surry Hills and Victoria Hotel Melbourne, all of whom will continue encouraging their guests to donate for these worthy causes.

Mercure Sydney Cooking Master Class

In February, Mercure Sydney hosted a staff retreat for the National Aboriginal Sporting Chance Academy (NASC). Wanting to do something out of the ordinarily, NASC and Mercure Sydney decided that there’s nothing better and more entertaining than having their NASC staff members bond over an intimate cooking class altogether.

On the day the NASC team was split into 3 cooking groups, each group being taught and guided by Mercure Sydney Chefs. Each group had a different course to make, Caesar Salad, Baked Atlantic Salmon with salsa verde tomato concasse, and Chocolate Fondant.

At the end of the day the Master Class was a great success, everyone found it very enjoyable and thought that it was a great novelty experience!
