2012 NRL Finals
8-30 September
This weekend one of Sydney’s most exciting sporting periods begins with the first games of the 2012 National Rugby League Finals Series.
After an action packed season of amazing tries, freakish skill and massive hits, four Sydney teams have proceeded to the NRL final 8. Two of the favourites for the premiership, the Canterbury Bulldogs and Manly Sea Eagles, kick off the finals with a blockbuster at ANZ Stadium this Friday 8 September. Both of these Sydney teams contain massive stars of the game including the “Dally M” player of the year Ben Barber. It is sure to be a spectacular clash of the title heavyweights.
Two other Sydney teams play away from home in the first round of the finals. The Russell Crowe owned South Sydney Rabbitohs travel south to play perennial title contenders the Melbourne Storm on Saturday, while the 2012 surprise packets Cronulla Sharks visit the nation’s capital to face the Canberra Raiders.
Sydney is certain to host at least one game in the week 2 semi final round and another in the week 3 preliminary finals, providing a great opportunity for international visitors to experience one of Australia’s biggest sporting events. The 2012 NRL finals series then culminates on Sunday 30 September with the 2012 NRL grand final.
