Earth Hour 2011
When: 26 March 2011
Time: 8:30pm – 9:30pm
On March 26, hundreds of millions of global citizens, from one hundred different countries, will unite in the action of lights out. Will you be one of them?
Earth Hour is a call to action to every individual, every business and every community. It starts with a flick of the switch at 8:30pm Saturday March 26, in a collective display of commitment to protect the one thing that unites us all - the planet.
Mercure Sydney will once again join the worldwide movement of people and businesses planning to turn off the lights for Earth Hour 2011 in celebration and contemplation of the one thing we all have in common – our planet.
Mercure Sydney will participate by turning off exterior signage lighting, turning off non-essential interior lighting, using candlelight in appropriate public areas such as Four Elements Restaurants and Eve’s Place, and using in-electronic screens and welcome newsletter to inform guests about Earth Hour observances.
Earth Hour has done a lot to raise awareness of sustainability issues. But there’s more to it than switching off lights for one hour once a year. It’s all about giving people a voice and working together to create a better future for our planet. For more information visit www.earthhour.org
