Ladies and gentlemen, I am pleased to introduce, Alexis Cunningham – Sales and Event Executive.
What do you spend your time doing at Mercure Sydney?
Once clients have signed their contract and have decided to have their event with us. I then work with them in their event preparations. It can be menu selection, table settings or simply what time would they like their morning tea. As we have numerous events at the hotel, I am dealing with numerous amounts of people and ensuring every event runs smoothly on the day with our Banquets Operations team.
What is/are your favourite thing(s) about the hotel?
My favourite thing is the people! They are an amazing bunch of people and are all stars in my eyes; I have gained so many life time friends from working here.
What was the most interesting job you had before Mercure Sydney?
The most interesting job was when I lived in Thailand for 6 months and taught English to 3 – 5 years old. It was an amazing experience and the children were adorable.
How did your first week at Mercure Sydney go and what were your first impressions?
Going from a 159 room hotel to a 517 room hotel, my first week feels like a blur, I just remembering being so amazed at how many people work at this place and work together in getting the job done. Whether it is maintenance making sure all lights work in the room, to housekeeping cleaning the room and food and beverage team ensuring the mini bar is well stocked. But everyone was so lovely and so helpful.
All the bad things hot chips, sweets and bread
I don’t have a favourite movie but I love reality tv especially anything to do with people finding love.
Gold Digger by Kanye West, it’s my jam and I know all the words.
What is your funniest/silliest moment in life?
I have lots I don’t even know where to start, last week I went to boot camp with my pants inside out and I didn’t even know until my friend who was on a bus saw me and sent me a text message informing me.
If you could have dinner with any fictional or non-fictional character/person, who would it be and what would you eat?
I would love to have scones with Queen Elizabeth
