Today’s Human of Mercure Sydney is Alex De Santis, and I have to be honest, I can’t claim to have had an large amount of input here since he is our resident Digital Marketer and Graphic Designer and essentially wrote, formatted and proofed his entire profile himself.
What do you spend your time doing at Mercure Sydney?
As part of the Sales and Marketing team, I contribute to cooking up blog and social media content for the hotel as well as designing marketing collateral, menus, advertising and logos for outlets. I also maintain and monitor the Mercure Sydney and Ibis world square websites.
What is/are your favourite thing(s) about the hotel?
I love its central location and versatility.
What was the most interesting job you had before Mercure Sydney?
I was once a bar tender at multiple venues around Sydney including Hemmesphere, Establishment and the late and great Beach Haus.
How did your first week at Mercure Sydney go and what were your first impressions?
My first full week was extremely busy! Although everyone was very accommodating, I truly felt welcome.
Pork Belly, must have amazing crackling though…. Or maybe Ribs…. Gosh, I’m always divided!
Django Unchained…Anything Tarantino
I love all music equally…But if I had to pick a favourite of all time, it would be Dreams by Fleetwood Mac
What is your funniest/silliest moment in life?
If you could have dinner with any fictional or non-fictional character/person, who would it be and what would you eat?
Frank Sinatra – I would love to get a firsthand insight onto what he and he’s mates got up to in Las Vegas. We would most likely eat extremely overpriced Italian
Do you watch/play any sports, and if so, who is your favourite sports-person?
I play and watch football (aka soccer). Favourite sports person would have to be Francesco Totti
What are some of your hobbies and interests?
I've been snow skiing since I was 2 years old. I look forward to it every year! Also love being creative and designing random things.
What is a skill you’d like to learn and why?
I'd love to be able to speak Japanese :)
Again I’m torn between two:
“Never forget where you’ve been, because you’ll lose track of where you’re going”
and “The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places” – Ernest Hemmingway
