Cambridge Markets

Like many local businesses, Cambridge Markets had very humble beginnings. Launched in 2015 by Madelienne Anderson (photographed, left, with Rebecca Fox), Cambridge Markets first ran at Vaucluse Public School as a community fundraising event. Such was the overwhelming sense of communal enjoyment in the market that Mads quickly realised that markets are places that people love, want and need. She was joined in the business by long-time friend and passionate organic and ethical food advocate Rebecca, and the business has grown to incorporate a number of leading events around Sydney's eastern suburbs, including the seasonal Cambridge Market at Watsons Bay and the weekly farmers' market at Rose Bay. And now, the market at the Entertainment Quarter.

Surry Hills Market

Time: 7:00AM to 4:00PM

The Surry Hills Markets are a must-visit for all – ask the locals! Vintage fashion, valuable antiques, books, hand-made beauty products and designer labels – our markets have it all.

We specialise in handmade, second-hand and recycled goods. We are open regardless of the weather, and over Christmas and New Year the normal schedule is maintained.

The Markets have been an integral part of the Surry Hills community since 1981. In response to community consultations, the Markets were set up to trade in recycled, second hand or handmade goods, distinguishing them from other community markets.

The original concept was to offer a focus for Surry Hills which was experiencing rapid changes in local population, and to provide an opportunity for local low-income earners to make additional money. Over the years, Surry Hills has continued to be ever-changing, and the Market now provides an opportunity for locals and visitors to experience the unique diversity of our area. A visit to the Market, either as a buyer or seller, is a reminder that the notion of a community market is still viable in the rapidly changing inner-city environment.
